Exibitions

A few days ago (on 7th of April) I helped decorate and organize an exibition about lithuanian writer Jonas Biliūnas. I did it together with Inesa. She works in the Library.
Inesa prepared books for this exibition. Also we desided to decorate shelves with printed trees with short sentences from Jonas Biliūnasas' books on it. I tryed to read it, but it was bad idea, because I haven't enought knowledge in Lithuanian language to do it well. I will try to  improve my Lithuanian and I believe it would be better after few month.
Also Inesa brought an arrow and gun from home and we used it to explain the plot of one book. The main idea that book is one boy accidentally killed the cat and then all his life was very upset that he did it. Author heared this story from his friend and desided to write a book about it. Generally main theme all his books is loneliness, sorrow, anguish, pain of loss. He wrote book for kids and for adults.
Yesterday I was at the opening of photo exibition about nature in Zarasai's history museum. The museum is on the first floor of library's building. The exhibition presents photos of thirty-five photographers of Zarasai. They submitted their photos of nature, interesting worlds places, animals and plants. This exibition will work during two next weeks. All that photos is really nice and beautiful and I think I would go there again.

Darbo Birža (Labor Exchange)

In Friday at 4th of April we were going at Darbo Birža (Labor Exchange). We was inviting by Tomas (leader of lockal Youth Center). He is a curator of one project in Birža for young unemployed people. The main idea of Tomasa's project is tell to young people about volunteering and EVS and also involve them in this structure.
It was only 4 young people at this meeting. And firstly I was a little bit shoked about it. But Tomas said us (we were together with Martin) don't worry about this sad thing because it's normal in nowadays that young people don't want doing nothing. All of them sitting at home and government gives them unemployment benefits.
We shared with young people our expiriense of volunteering especially EVS, why we desided choose our projects, left our hometowns and came here in Lithuania in so small town Zarasai.
For me it was wery interesting experience to try to convince and motivate new people. I have never saw all of them before. And I hope that I managed to get them interested.

Weekend in Salakas

Last weekend I was in Salakas.
I vizited other volunteers. There are 3 volunteers stay in Salakas: Katia from Russia, Sergio from Spain and Max from France. They are working in national regional park Grazhute.
Salakas is a small vilage, 24 km far from Zarasai. There are only 500 local people lives there. It's a very nice place to rest. There are many tourists like vizit all this region in summer. I saw big camping in the forest

As Zarasai Salakas have really beautiful nature. It is located near of Lake Luodos and is surrounded by a forest. We tooke a bicycles and rode to one of the Salakas lake. The weather also was good. It was sun all time I was there but a little bit windy. I think I a little tanned )

Also I saw local's chirch. It's looks like a castle very huge and massive. It was build in XIV century from the big solid stones.

I hope I will go to Salakas again in very close future and will find there many more interesting places.
Salakas and other North-Easten Lithuania really nice, calm and lovely. So, I recommend all of you to visit these amazing places.
